The 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) will be the 35th edition of the international men’s football championship of Africa. It is scheduled to be hosted by Guinea from 23 June to 23 July 2025.

History of AFCON

The Africa Cup of Nations was first held in 1957 and has been held every two years since then, except for 1965, 1971, 1973, 1981, 1983, 1985, 1987, 1989, 1991, 1993, 1995, 1997, 1999, 2001, 2003, 2005, 2007, 2009, 2011, 2013, 2015, 2017, and 2019. The tournament was expanded from 16 to 24 teams in 2019 and will remain at 24 teams for the 2025 edition.

Host Selection

Guinea was selected to host the 2025 AFCON on 30 September 2018, beating out bids from Algeria, Morocco, Zambia, and Senegal. Guinea had previously hosted the tournament in 1972 and 2015.
